Chris Stanway

Salisbury City Councillor for St Edmund's Ward

Chris Stanway

Chris Stanway moved to live in Salisbury in May 2014, taking on restoration of a Victorian terraced house – which is still ongoing!
Prior to this she worked as a Secondary School English and Drama teacher for thirty-two years. She took on many different pastoral and curriculum responsibilities finally setting up and running an inclusion unit within the mainstream school, for children at risk of exclusion.

In 2008 she left teaching to become a trainer specialising in providing training for education staff about the impact of trauma on children’s ability to learn. She continues to work part time organising e-learning and qualifications.

Chris loves living in the centre of the city. Her favourite part of the day is the early morning when she walk around all districts enjoying the many different environments and the great variety of people and wildlife.

Like so many of us she is saddened by the shop closures and a general atmosphere of neglect which must follow with increasing numbers of empty buildings. And that is why she wants to give something back to the community who welcomed her so happily seven years ago.
