Layla Moran visits Salisbury & South Wilts

26 Jun 2020

Ms Moran spoke with passion and insight on a variety of topics and set out her vision for the future of the Liberal Democrats.

Our Salisbury members came up with some excellent questions for Ms Moran. Topics ranged from how we work with Labour, to how we address our perception with the electorate. Ms Moran also spoke about how we should be using education to build a pipeline for the arts and her involvement in the campaign to set up the Cultural protection fund to rebuild the arts after Covid-19.

We've never needed the arts more than now.

On Education, as a former teacher herself, she spoke about how the Conservative governments have stripped the teaching of music in schools and created a system where music is taught to only those who can afford private lessons.

On party matters, Ms Moran spoke of how the Liberal Democrats should rebuild the party and reform our internal management structure. Her priority is to ensure that we can rebuild our movement from the base up, reflecting the ideals of federalism and devolution of decision making. This will allow us to rebuild our credibility, rebuild trust and start winning again.

Ms Moran spoke of several progressive policy ideas for Britain after coronavirus. These can be found in the Build Back Better document on her website: laylamoran.com/build_back_better
