Petition: Give us a Real Say

Back our petition to give residents here a real say on house building in our areas.

Wiltshire Council have published a draft “local plan” for housing across the county. This has been in development for over five years and there was a public consultation on it in 2021. Up and down the county, houses are being allocated where they weren't planned for.

To make matters worse, the Conservative cabinet are insisting there can be no further consultation on particular sites and policies, just one final consultation on the overall soundness of the plan.

They do not plan to give local residents or councillors a say on individual sites, even when they have been dropped into the plan without consultation. Liberal Democrats are calling for local residents to have a real say in their local plan rather than just being told by Conservative bosses that it is ‘take it or leave it’.

Give us a Real Say

I/We the undersigned call on Wiltshire Council to change the proposed consultation process on the local plan to give residents a real say, with the opportunity to suggest changes to sites and policies; particularly where these were not consulted on in the 2021 emerging local plan.
